Not to be confused with Dunvegan Community Trust, Dunvegan Community Council is part of the network of Community Councils around the country, bridging the gap between local authorities and communities.
A Community Council is a purely voluntary organisation set up by statute by the Local Authority and run by local residents to act on behalf of its area as the most local tier of elected representation and local democracy. Community Councils act as a voice for their area by representing local views, taking part in planning and licensing consultations and supporting local initiatives.
